1. How accurate is the B24 compared to fire assay?
The B24 delivers precision of up to ±0.05% and provides results suitable for virtually all jewelry trading, buying, refining and manufacturing decisions. Unlike fire assay, the test is completely non-destructive and results are available within seconds.
2. Can the B24 detect gold plating?
The B24 can identify plating layers and surface composition up to a certain thickness. However, like all XRF analyzers, thick plating may influence the result. For the most accurate evaluation of the underlying metal, testing from multiple points or light surface preparation may be recommended.
3. Which metals and elements can the device analyze?
The B24 analyzes up to 24 elements simultaneously, including Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir and many other precious and base metals. Results are displayed as percentage, karat and elemental composition.
4. How long does a test take?
Results are available in as little as 3 seconds. Depending on the required level of precision and the material being tested, measurement times can be extended up to 30 seconds.
5. Is the device safe to operate?
Yes. The B24 includes fully enclosed X-ray protection, high-voltage protection systems and multiple safety interlocks. The X-ray beam operates only during measurement and remains completely contained within the chamber.
